Madeline needs your help...
 |
Madeline was rescued from a Mississippi shelter. She is a sweet girl about 2 yrs old. Madeline's story is sad because it is believed that Madeline was hit by a car when she was a very young pup. She sustained devastating injuries that were never medically treated. Her leg healed incorrectly leaving Madeline with a lame back right leg. As a result Madeline will probably have to have her back right leg removed.
However, right now Madeline's leg is the least of her problems. On Madeline's second day in rescue she became extremly ill, running a high fever of 105.1. She was taken to the emergency clinic at LA Veterinary Referral & diagnosed with a severe case of Bordetella. She had developed pneumonia and her lungs were filled with fluid and mucus. She spent a week in the hospital receiving round the clock medical treatment which included time in the oxygen tank and nebulizer treatments to help her to breathe better. Madeline is finally in her foster home recovering. She will have to make weekly trips to the vet to monitor the progress of her lungs and will be on 2 major antibiotics for the next 4-6 weeks. After Madeline overcomes this battle, she will have to endure HW treatment. Yes, unfortunatley Ms. Madeline is HW+. She will also be seeing the orthopaedic specialist again to determine if we can save the injured leg.
|
As you can imagine the medical bills for Madeline are extremely high. To date rescue has spent $2500 toward her medical care, and that is just the beginning. If you would like to donate to help pay for Madeline's medical needs, please click here. All contributions are greatly appreciated! WRS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization & all donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your support!
Please keep Madeline in your thoughts & prayers as she will have a tough 4-6 months ahead of her.

Foster Homes - WE NEED FOSTER HOMES!!!
Foster homes are a critical part of our success as a rescue group. As a foster home you would provide a loving, stable environment for a rescued dog until he/she is adopted. We are often forced to board some of these dogs due to the lack of foster homes. This is a tremendous financial burden on the rescue, not to mention the stress it causes for the dogs. Please consider taking one of these guys into your home today! Click here if you would like to foster a Weim.
